Linken's first swim meet!

I know! I'm slacking again! I've been soo busy so before we head to Minot in a week I'd better get this thing caught up! Here goes!

On July 11 Linken swam in his first swim meet! He did so good! I was a very proud aunt! I'm not super familiar with all the swimming lingo but he swam in two different races: backstroke and free. Unfortunately swimming has some tough rules and he dq'd both times, BUT he did so good in both the heats he swam in! While he was doing the free he grabbed the rope and apparently pulled himself and when he was doing the backstroke he flipped over about 4 inches to early. He would have taken first in the one and I think 5th in the other (but I might be wrong because its been that long! SORRY!) But of course he's still a winner in my eyes! Enjoy the pictures from the meet!

Enjoying some Lunch

Killing time between races

These were the biggest popsicles I have ever seen! I swear it was almost as tall as Lukas!

Charles took a small nap between races...

Caught him off guard...woops =)
and my awesome photography skills....just kidding!

4th of July night

We got invited to a BBQ out at the Nelson's house for the 4th of July so that's where we ended up around 5:30. The night was entertaining to say the least =)

Matt and Danny (Matt plays softball with Chad and is also his old manager from Truck and Farm) invited us out along with the rest of the softball team to enjoy the 4th with them. A lot of the team showed up so it was a good time =) We spent the majority of the night eating, laughing, drinking (okay so not me but most everyone else), and playing games. We played dingle berries (aka horse balls or ladder golf, but Shay kept calling it dingle berries) and washers and some of the guys played in the pool and all the kids played in the pool and ran around the yard. For the record, Shay and I partnered up all night, and only won one game, so we may have to try our luck next time to win more games!

Sadly though, Matt's dog Davidson (not sure of the spelling) jumped up to catch the ball while playing and fell and broke his hip! So Matt and Chad took him to the emergency vet and spent about an hour there, he goes in Monday for surgery, poor dog.

Here are some pictures from the bbq

Playing washers....

and dingle berries (horse balls/ladder golf)

Many attempts were made to jump onto this walrus off the railing. Matt had the longest time, of 4 and some odd seconds, and then it popped, so that ended that fun.
We watched some fireworks.....

And then the night was over =) I had to work early today so we unfortunately didn't stay much longer after the fireworks. There were some other things that took place during the course of the evening but other than that, this was our 4th! =) Hope you all had a happy and safe 4th!!!!

Happy 4th of July parade in Mandan!

Yesterday was July 4th and boy was it an entertaining, kinda sad, day!

The day started off at the parade in Mandan. Chad and I drove over and met Heidi at Jena and Jason's house (Jarod had to work so he missed out). We walked the block and a half to main street and set up our chairs. We got there around 9:30 and finally left about 12:45! This was the longest parade that I have ever been to!!! There were about 140 floats, lots of candy thrown, and a decision that the only way I'll go back next year is if I'm in it for some reason haha. I think Glendive's parades were more interesting than this one was...yikes! Here are some photos from the morning!
Alexie (sorry if I spelled that wrong, it's Jarod and Heidi's niece) didn't want her picture taken.

Chad wanted to bring Sadie, so he was in charge of her. This was her spot of choice (Chad was using Heidi's chair with a footrest and it reclines) until the sirens started from the firetrucks, then she parked it on my lap for most of the duration.
This little girl was leading the group she was with! She had to be maybe 3 or 4 and she was riding this horse all by herself. No one was walking beside her the girl on the other side was on her own horse. She was pulling on the reins and kicking the horse, it was so neat to see!!!

I totally want to own one of these someday, pretty much because it's pink =)

Nice float huh?

Neat huh?Heidi, Sadie and Me

Sadie enjoyed the car ride on the interstate to Mandan =)

Jere and Erin's Wedding

Chad's friends from Dickinson State University got married on June 20 in Mandan, so we went over and enjoyed some time with old friends and made some new ones!

Chad went to kindergarten with Jere in Circle, so they go WAY back. They both looked amazing and you could tell by the look on their faces that it was definitely one of the happiest days of their lives!

Here are some pictures from that night!
This is Craig, with Chad of course. Chad and Craig graduated from DCHS in the same class and went to DCC together.

The bride and groom, Erin and Jere =)

Crazy Kirk and Brady =) These guys went to Dickinson State University with us and were over almost every Friday night for dinner during the 07-08 school year...crazy kids!

Mother/Son dance =)

And of course, Chad and I =)

We only went to the reception for a little bit. Chad worked all day so we were unable to make it to the wedding, but it was great seeing all of his old buddies from DSU again, even if it was only for a little bit!

McQuade Tournament

Yikes! We've been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to get this thing updated!! To view the pictures larger you can click on them and it'll make them bigger, just in case you'd like to take a closer look ;)

June 26-28 Chad's team participated in the McQuade softball tournament here in Bismarck. To learn more about the tournament click HERE. The team played in Mandan on Friday and Saturday and Bismarck on Sunday.

They played Friday night but lost. Chad and I bought those new Off! Fans and I used them the whole weekend! They worked so good and I did not get a single bug bite! Right as the game was finishing up the wind picked up horribly and as we headed to the after game get together it started to downpour! Chad and I went home for a little while because our windows were open and the tornado sirens started going off! We stayed home until they went off and then headed over to the managers house. Most of the team and their girlfriends, wives, fiances, and kids were there when we got there and some more showed up a little later with pizza.

They were told to meet at the fields about 8 a.m. on Saturday as the game was going to be at 8:20 a.m. Everyone was there and getting ready to warm up...and then they realized they didn't play until 8:20 p.m.!! So chad and I ran some errands and came home for a bit and headed back to the fields in Mandan around 7 p.m. They won this game so we had a long day ahead of us the next day! Again, we retreated to the managers house again for a get together after the game.

Sunday morning they played at 10:30 and won that game and had about an hour and a half break before the next game at 1:20. I ran to Subway for some lunch as everyone retreated to the shade in the lawn to rest and hang out. The next game started and they won again! That win put them into the consellation game bracket so they played again right away at 2:00. Chad's brother from Missouri, Jared and his wife Sandy and little girl Kamryn showed up just in time to watch the last game of the day.

The team won this game as well! So after we said our goodbyes to Jared and his family we headed over to Clem Kelly for the trophy presentations! Chad's team took 5th place out of 45 teams (This is what Chad told me). So they did really good!! They are 12 and 2 right now (I'm pretty sure, but could be off by 1 game) so they are 3rd in their league! I'll have to double check these standings as the website wasn't updated as of yet due to the holiday =)

I learned a valuable lesson during this tournament. Sunscreen would have been smart =) I got burnt to a crisp! I have some amazing tan lines on my feet from my sandals (although my toes didn't burn) and a rockin farmers tan going on on my arms as I was wearing a tshirt. It also looks as if I have on a pair of socks, so to speak, as I had on capris so I burned from the middle of my shin down =) it's really quite the spectacle. So, next time I will put on sunscreen!

The team has many little supporters =) A lot of the guys have kids or one on the way so there are many little fans there. Not all of the kids are pictured below (I think a few were missing, but not many) and most of the guy's wives, fiances, and girlfriends were here as well!

But of course, there had to be a special picture. Its customary to douce (forgive my spelling) the manager/coach with water when you win......but no one had an empty cooler........

So they used beer =) later when Chad and I went to leave he emptied our cooler into another one and used the water that was in ours to dump on him again.....you know to get rid of the beer smell =)
